FRIDAY,
SEPT 13:
Another
bright, warm glorious morning! Even
though I wouldn’t give anything for the weeks we’ve spent in Northern Country,
including the cool - and sometimes downright cold - weather, I’m basically a
sun worshipper and love the warmth on my back.
So I’m delighted that we’re having warm, sunny weather for the trip
back. For now, at least.
Bill
& I took another walk down to the lake, same as we did last evening. Actually, Bill & Pappy went down earlier
in the morning, while I was still sleeping.
He took these fabulous pictures then, while the light was just
right. But then came back to get
Sleeping Beauty so we could walk it together one more time.
Continued
down the Cassiar. Can I get tired of
saying, “Another beautiful drive!”??
On
the latter part of today’s drive, as we neared the junction for Stewart-Hyder,
and going down that road, we started seeing heavy snow/glacial ice on the
mountains again in some places. In fact,
we soon came upon Bear Glacier. One of
the few glaciers which comes right up to the road, almost. There wasn’t any good, safe spot in which to
stop with the RV in tow & take a picture, so we’ll double back there with
just the truck at some point in the next 2 days.
We found
a lovely RV park right outside of Stewart BC which Rob had recommended. Booked for 3 nites. That will give us 2 full days to explore the
area – the 2 glaciers here, the quaint town, and maybe give Bill a chance to
fish. Can also do some laundry – the
last time on this trip.
Oh yes,
we spotted several black bears off of the highway today. There were two juveniles, hanging out
together.
